In this day and age people generally do not think much about things like luck, especially in the form of a charm. Well, to tell you the truth I never did until recently either, but I do now. Not that I experienced a stroke of good luck because of a talisman or other amulet firsthand, but I did hear a very interesting story the other day which I place high credence in, and if you have just a moment I’ll pass it on.
You see, there was a difficult situation a while back between a man and his wife. Now, isn’t that a new one, huh? Well, the lady of the house was at her wit’s end trying to convince her supposedly faithful husband that he should spend more time with her around the house. Oh, not necessarily doing chores and and tedious household tasks, but they could engage in enlightening conversations, watch interesting TV shows, listen to music, and hopefully, at least from her side, they could take part in something they did very very infrequently now days and that is the taboo of lovemaking.
Unfortunately, when you have a “deadhead” for a husband, as our beleaguered heroine of this story unfortunately had, it’s somewhat difficult to get him to change his somewhat lazy habits in anything, and being a loving husband was very much excluded in his lowly package. But since the title of this little yarn is Good Luck Charms Today it must have something to do with a turn around coming up and that we shall see as we go along.
It seems that our poor little brave lady had one last trick up her sleeve and that came from a fairy tale which she remembered from her youth about a princess condemned to death by the King who saved herself by telling him stories every night. Well, our own little heroine of this story copied that idea and began to tell her somewhat oafish husband bedtime stories, but hers were, well…. let’s say somewhat risque. Mrs. “always before this conservative”, became “Mrs. I know what to say to turn you on”, and believe me when I tell you that it really worked.
From that time on the two who before had experienced hard times now knew only bliss and the lucky lady of the house felt that the fairy tale which undoubtedly saved her marriage and made it happy, was her Good Luck Charm.
